Current presentation
The original work was reproduced using the most advanced methods, which allowed to reach absolute reprographic identity with the originals. The style of the original figures, having the character of ink-drawings, was strictly adhered to. No rasters were used (see inside page of the folder). The ink-drawings are reproduced in resolution of 3000 dpi. Defects on the originals (due to high age and quality of the paper) were removed by sensitive retouching. The original text pages are only reproduced in the original French version to prevent errors in transcription. The original pages are followed by contemporaneous English text arranged into two parts. The first part contains introductory articles about J. Barrande, description of the sampling method, method of describing, and other interesting facts related to his work. A translation of the names of Barrande’s localities into their present names and a geological map are also included. The second part provides a revision of the individual figured specimens, which follows these rules:
1-12. Cheirurus claviger Beyr. 772-D
figs 1-9. = Eccoptochile clavigera (Beyrich, 1845)
Ord., Letná F.: Veselá near Beroun (figs 1-6, 8, 9), Drabov (fig. 7)
figs 10-12. = Eccoptochile perlata (Hawle et Corda, 1847)
fig. 10. lectotype of E. perlata
Ord., Vinice F.: vicinity of Beroun (exact locality unknown, after Šnajdr 1984), Zahoøany F.: Zahoøany

The first line is a copy of the original Barrande’s text, the other lines give the determination of the specimen according to the present scientific knowledge.
